All the answers

Tutorhub is a UK based website set up to help students and school kids get their homework done. We know that we all learn at different times and speeds and we understand that learning happens at home as well as at school. We also know they have a million questions – that's where Tutorhub comes in. All our tutor sessions are tailored to our students' needs. 10 minutes or 90, you only pay for the time you spend with your tutor.

We provide private 1-2-1 tutoring over the internet using instant messaging (think msn, facebook chat etc.) something that kids are completely comfortable with and enjoy.

If you're a parent, you take control of the entire account, check profiles, view completed sessions and manage payments – which gives them total peace of mind.

Is the website child safe?

For our younger students, we have child safety policies and procedures in place that fully reflect industry best practice. We continue to develop the website based on advice given by independent child safety specialists. We won't publish the technical security details for obvious reasons, but you will notice features such as reporting inappropriate conversations.

We also suggest you help your child stay safe by discussing our 3 golden rules together.

How do I ask a question?

It is so easy! Type your question into the ‘Ask Your Question' bar .

Two ways to get an answer.

Pay as you go: Tutors will see your question and offer to help. You decide which tutor you want to work with – to help you choose, browse their profile to learn more about them, check out their rate and subject expertise.

Free: If your question is quite simple and a fellow student can help – they'll answer your question for free. If you get really lucky you might get a freebie from a tutor.

How long do I have to wait for an answer?

The speed of your answer will depend on the subject and who's online. We find that tutors are most often available from 4pm to 9pm in the evening on weekdays and from 2pm to 6pm at weekends.

Fellow students are often online at the same time as you and you can search the question library for quick answers to simple questions too.

Who are your tutors?

Our tutors are UK based, CRB checked and experts in their chosen subjects – many of our tutors are working teachers and university under / post graduates. Our tutors set their own rates based on their experience and subject areas. They work at home or from their University offering you flexible session times.

Why do I have to pay for online tutoring?

Your tutor will provide you with a valuable professional service just like a traditional face-to-face tutor. You are paying for your tutor's time, expertise and skill, a key difference is that our tutors charge by the minute so you only ever pay for the help you need. This flexible approach makes online tutoring a cost effective alternative.

How do I know that the tutors are effective?

We ask you to give feedback on your tutor whenever you complete an online tutor session. This highlights any issues and helps us build a reputation score for all our tutors. Great tutors with great feedback and good results will achieve the highest scores – watch out for our new ‘tutor ratings' feature coming soon.

What if I'm unhappy with my online tutor session?

There may be rare occasions when your tutor session doesn't meet your expectations – neither Tutorhub nor the tutors want this to happen. Rest assured we will refund your account in this instance. If there is a disagreement with a tutor, we will be guided by our money back pledge.

Do I have to sign a long-term contract?

Absolutely not. Online tutoring sessions are provided on a pay as you go basis.

What happens if I run out of credit?

You credit your account before you start your online tutor session, and you are charged for the time used at the end of the session. Don't worry if you run out of credit mid-session, we will give you the opportunity to top up your account and carry on. Your unused credit stays in your account ready for your next session.
