Covalent bond

What is a covalent bond?

Answers
A covalent bond is a chemical bond that involves the sharing of electron pairs between atoms. The stable balance of attractive and repulsive forces between atoms when they share electrons is known as covalent bonding.

There are many types of bonds in chemistry, covalent bond is one of them and is a type of chemical bonding which allows atoms to share ''electrons'' to form a bond.

Water and Carbon dioxide are examples of compounds with covalent bonds. Here atoms share electrons and form bonds, so that they have full electrons in thier outermost shell.

Electrostatic force of attraction between the nuclei and a shared pair of electrons is called a covalent bond. Chemical bonding, of any type, is a force of attraction and the cause of attraction should be explained while defining the bonding.

A covalent bond is a bond between two non-metal atoms. They share electrons so that both atoms may obtain a full outer shell. Each atom contributes at least one electron to the shared bond.

A covalent bond is a strong bond that will need a lot of energy to break it, this means that the molecules that are formed have low melting and boiling points such as hydrogen and water. The bond will be created between two non-metal atoms, they share a pair of electrons from the outer shell of the molecule. This will be shown is a dot diagram.

a covalent bond exists when 2 atoms SHARE one or more pair of electrons in order to complete the octet in its valence shell.Example HCl 2 atmos H and Cl . H has 1 electron on its valence shell Cl has 7 electrons on its valence shell . in the molecule HCL in the bond H and Cl share 2 electrons which are on a molecular orbital

A covalent bond is formed when two (or more) atoms (typically a metal and a non-metal) share electrons with each other in order to completely fill their outer shells. These bonds are very strong.Examples of compounds that are covalent are:1) Carbon Dioxide2) Methane3) WaterNormally you will be asked to state features of simple covalent compounds vs giant molecular compounds. The key here is that simple compounds (such as methane) are small compounds that have WEAK INTERMOLECULAR forces between two molecules and are typically in gas state whereas a giant molecular compounds such as DIAMOND or GRAPHITE are the opposite.

A covalent bond is a bond formed by the mutual sharing of electrons between two atoms. The two bonded atoms can be two identical atom in which case the covalent bond will be a non polar covalent bond. However, a covalent bond between two dissimilar atoms is called a polar covalent bond.
