Dalton's Law of partial Pressures

A sample of butane was collected over water. If this occurred at STP, what was the partial pressure of the butane?

Answers
The partial pressure of an ideal gas is equal to the pressure it alone would exert if it occupies the same volume alone at the same temperature. As the butane is collected over water, there would be some water vapour present - you will need to use your data book to find out what the vapour pressure of water is at standard temperature and pressure.
