describe steel

Answers
steel is an alloy of iron. it is stronger that iron because it contains 'impurities' which change the structure. in pure iron the atoms are all the same size and are arranged in a regular pattern so they can easily slide over each other causing it to be soft and malleable but with the impurities steel is stronger because the different sized atoms distort the pattern and so the layers are no longer able to slide over each other.
