does the distribution of invertabrates in a habitat depnd on the light intensity?

Yes light intensity does have an effect on the distribution of invertebrates in a habitat? Why might this be? Might it have something to do with protection against predators or a means to find a food source? If you would like further assistance with this I would be keen to help!

I conducted a study and am comparing the results of two sites where I put pitfall traps. One was a sheltered, upturned soil area (here more species were found - a wide range) and one was an open grassy area with not much shelter. Can someone explain different factors that may affect this other than light intensity? ANY HELP APRECIATED!!
