Here are some things that might help:

  1. Find a quiet place, free from distractions.
  2. Read the story out-loud to someone else, maybe your parent or a friend
  3. When you make a mistake, point out the words you dont understand and ask how to pronounce them
  4. Reread the entire sentence from the beginning to make sure that you understand what the sentence is saying.
  5. Say in your own words what happened in the story.
  6. Get someone to ask you questions about what happened in the story, to check you understand it.
