5 Years is probably a bit late to be answering this! If you (or anyone else) is still interested. This sculpture is by Rick Jackson, entitled Childhood's Greatest Adventure and is made of bronze, using a (possibly wax) positive which is malleable and easily carved/edited, a cast is then created around it, which the bronze is then poured into. This is called the lost wax method and its possible that was what was used to create this piece. In terms of principles of design, it falls broadly within Romanticism - look to sculptors such as Auguste Rodin. It also draws from Baroque, in its drama - look at the sculptor Bernini.
