If you listen to sports commentators, they try to inform the listeners about the rules of the game, as they go. They also summarise the game at half time, and fill in gaps in play with interesting facts. Their tone of voice varies according to what is happening, just listen next time to how they talk when someone scores a goal for example.

IELTS Speaking?

What is the best way to tackle part 3 of the speaking interview? I think besides the fact that you need to be knowledgeable on a wide range of general topics and issues, ou definitely need conversational strategies and phrases for starting your response and thinking out loud without remaining silent. Any other thoughts?

tefl exam question. Help!

I am in the middle of my tefl exam, and I am struggling on 1 question only : Imagine you are teaching the phonemes /l/ and /r/ (/r/ for 'right' and /l/ for 'love'). Your aim is to help your students distinguish between the two sounds and pronounce them as accurately as possible. Remind yourself of the stages (p6) of teaching sounds you covered in module 6 and describe step by step how you would teach these sounds. Remember to give details of a communicative activity at the end. Write about 200 words. I do understand the concept, and stages, Demo, Drill, Check, Do it, Iam struggling on explaining the step by step process i.e. : words to use for the drill section, and phrases / sentences to use to drill the target sound.
