mt daughter has brought a homework sheet home asking if i was in charge of everything in the future and my job was to think of new ways o power our homes,schools,hospitals and factories, my plan would be??????

Well you could research all the different forms of alternative energies such as wind power, solar power, hydroelectric power etc. The government has just committed itself to massive greenhouse gass reductions by 2050 so if you google that, you'll probably come up with various ideas.

It also depends on how creative she gets to be. It this supposed to be a factual exercise looking at what alternative forms of energy there are out there or can she come up with her own inventions?

It would probably be a good idea to also look at how we could reduce the amount of energy we consume in order that we can power these places using alternative forms of energy. That might mean being less reliant on computers in the classroom or all the aspects of technology that are now used as teaching aids. She could get creative and suggest that for PE lessons students had to get on bicycle generators in order to generate electricity for the school!
