Poem Question

What is a poems structure and form, Also what is the difference between a sonnet, haiku, and a free verse ?

Answers
Hi there. A poem's structure refers to its shape on the page, rhyme scheme, repetition, stanzas and so forth. Form relates issues such as whether or not the poem is, say, a ballad or such like, which has rules to follow such as line length, line numbers, rhyme scheme. A sonnet is a fourteen line poem expressing a single thought or idea. In English poetry the sonnet is composed of three quatrains and a couplet. A Haiku is a three line poem arranged in to five, seven and five syllables. Haikus suggest rather than tell or describe. Free verse is exactly that: no rules, no rhyme, or if there is it's irregular and unpredictable.
