Polynomial
Doing a practice assignment right now and I'm very confused on how one would do this
Determine an equation for the family of functions, in simplified form, of a quartic with the following zeros -2 (plus or minus) square root 3 and 4 (plus or minus) square root 3
Determine an equation for the family member whose graph passes through the point (-1, 1). (2 marks)

Hi lipi!If a polynomial has a number n as a root, then (x - n) is part of its factorisation.E.g. (x - 2)(x - (-3)) is the quadratic with 2 and -3 as roots.(x - 2)(x - (-3))(x - k) is the family of cubics with roots 2, -3, and k (for any k).Can you use this to make a quartic with the roots you need?Christophe
