How did Mary Shelley use language in Frankenstein Volume I Chapter V to covey Fear and describe the gothic elements

Answers
You will need to look for things such as: descriptions of darkness/bad weather, descriptions of bodily reactions (shaking, quick heartbeat, etc.) and the specific adjectives she uses (e.g. does she say "monstrous" instead of "huge", etc.)

Look for language which creates mystery, look for supernatural elements in phrases used and pay attention to setting (gloomy darkness eery etc) as this helps convey fear and u certainty. Hope this helps get in contact for in depth info thanx

Within Mary Shelley's writing it shows that she uses the language to create a gothic feel by the way she describes in detail and at some point it can be over exagerated in her writing, but can create a gothic feel. The way fear would be written is how she captures you as the reader and the other characters, what works for most authors especially classics is the emotions from you the reader and the other characters.
