Solve for x

  (X-2) over 3 + 1 = x over 7

Answers
(x-2)/3+1 = x/7 you can cross multiply7 (x-2) = 4x now you can distribute the 77x-14 = 4x At this point you need to put all your x's by the same side using addition or subtraction7x-4x=14=> 3x=14divide by three in both sides x=14/3

Excuse me I didn't read the question correctly[(x-2)/3] +1= x/7first you need to solve the left side of the equation[(x-2)/3] +1=> (x-2+3)/3=>(x+1)/3now you can equate this side of the equation to the right side(x+1)/3 = x/7At this point you can cross multiply because you have to fractions in both sides7(x+1)=3xdistribute7x+7=3xmove the x's to the same side by addition or subtraction7x-3x=-74x=-7x=-7/4
