The element zinc
If Zinc was designed to have an atomic mass of 100.0amu, what would the atomic mass of Si be?
Answers
In any physical problem the units we use a just a way of labelling fixed properties of a material. So if you rescale your units then the ratio of two quantities doesn't change at all. So you could use the equation [new mass of Si] = ([old mass of Si] divided by [old mass of zinc]) times [mass of zinc in the new units]. Or [mass of Si in new units] = 28.086*100/65.38 = about 43 "new mass units".
