It depends on what form of negotiation you are referring to. If it is negotiating a cheque for example you are referring to a negotiable instrument. These guarantee the payment of a specific amount of money, either on demand, or after a set time, without conditions in addition to payment imposed on the payer. Examples of these include cheques or promissory notes.
