What is the German dative case?

What is the German dative case?

Answers
German's use the dative case to talk about the indirect object. The indirect object is often the receiver of the direct objects. Confused? An example might be, "the Queen gave alms to the poor". If this was in German, the direct object is 'alms' and the indirect object is 'poor'.
