I have an English Literature First Class degree as well as an MA - and I am soon to embark on a PhD!
I have proof-read academic essays for students studying in a wide variety of disciplines: fashion, English Literature and Law, to name just a few; in addition I have run a homework group for primary school age children and tutored all the way from KS1 to 'A' Level in English Literature.
I am patient, fun and friendly - and I encourage students to develop their curiosity for learning, particularly in areas that will enable them to better understand the books they are studying. With younger children it is through introducing them to a wide variety of books and authors they might not be aware of, and for older students enabling them to bring a richer knowledge of author and book to their analysis through exploration and a little bit of detective work!
So it’s April and the English AS and A Level exams are in May and June, are you ready? Do you know the assessment objectives? Are you able to employ enough terminology? What, for instance, is anaphora? And what about Media? Can you denote and connote in an exam? Are you a passive or an active audience?
