Hello there, my name is Ioannis, and I am originally from Tympaki, Crete, Greece! I have graduated from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, University of Crete and The Open University, UK, with honours. I have lived and worked as art historian in Greece, Italy, France and England. In addition, I have a true passion for teaching and writing. I have over ten years of experience in teaching Art History in secondary schools and colleges.
Art history promotes “an historical understanding of the origins of artefacts within specific world cultures, asking about the circumstances of their making, their makers, the media used, the functions of the images and objects, their critical reception and – not least – their subsequent history.”
Learn to critically analyze works of art within diverse historical and cultural contexts, considering issues such as politics, religion, patronage, gender, and ethnicity.
Explore major forms of artistic expression including architecture, sculpture, painting and other media from across a variety of cultures. Learn about the purpose and function of art as you develop your ability to articulate visual and art historical concepts in verbal and written form.
Lessons are personalized to help you improve your visual literacy skills, and to get you into the path of critical analysis of artefacts.
Students of all levels and ages are welcome.
For any questions, please, feel free to message me.
I look forward to meeting you.
