Hello, I'm Jack. I am a current undergraduate of Languages and Literature at the University of Cambridge.
My educational background: I have A-Levels in English Literature (A Star), French (A) and German (A). Additionally, I achieved twelve GCSE's, eleven of which are graded at an A Star. I achieved an A Star notably in English Language, English Literature and German.
My teaching experience: I have tutored students from Year 7 to Year 13 in English and German both privately and in top summer schools. I have two years of part-time teaching experience in German and have taught English as a foreign language in Russia. I am well acquainted with the planning and adapting of lessons and tuition sessions to meet the individual demands of the student.
My personal qualities: I have an excellent grasp of literary analysis, its modes and the construction of an argument. I work with all texts from poetry, to prose to cinema. I am able to give detailed guidance to someone wishing to make their own writing more effective, whether in an academic essay or a creative writing piece. I have a very firm grasp of grammatical functions in a variety of languages, though most notably in German and Russian. I can communicate these effectively in an engaging manner.
I have a full DBS and very much enjoy academic engagement with all ages, levels of study and ability. Enthusiasm is all that's required!
What you should expect from my tutoring: You should be ready to follow clear guidance and structure on key concepts, improving work and what exam boards are really looking for. You should expect patience and enthusiasm from me as well as lots of tips on how to further your studies. I aim to foster an environment in which you are ready to grow in confidence and expand your learning. Be ready to change the way you think about language and literature. I look to our first session!
