Hello, my name is Lizzie and I am currently undertaking a funded History PhD at King's College London. I hold a Masters in Renaissance and Early Modern Studies for which I was awarded a distinction and full funding as well as a BA Hons (First Class) in history and politics from the University of York.
Given this, and my A-Level subjects, I can offer tuition in history, politics, geography and law, in preparation for GCSE, AS and A-level exams, as well as to undergraduates and postgraduates. I am an organised, committed, reliable and enthusiastic individual who enjoys working with children and young adults, helping them to develop their understanding and interest in a variety of subjects. In the lead up to the exam period, I can provide intensive revision sessions and/ or revision guides for any of the subjects listed below. I am also happy to offer any help I can with university applications.
I also have extensive experience working with both undergraduates and postgraduates, helping them with essays/dissertations and in preparation for assessments, covering a range of subject materials.
I have been a tutor since 2007, and have helped those I tutor to significantly improve their exam results and grades, often taking them from C and D level grades up to high As and Bs. One of my most recent tutee, who I tutored in GCSE Geography and History, achieved an A* in both subjects and came top of his year at school for his GCSE grades. Whilst tutoring I pay particular attention to the needs of each student and tailor their study courses to best meet their needs and wishes. My approach to tutoring emphasises clarity, flexibility, and an enthusiasm for learning, within an informal and relaxed yet structured and interactive environment. I encourage students to think imaginatively and challenge themselves academically, encouraging debate and broadening their horizons. This not only helps to improve a student's examination technique but also their academic development.
