I am a self - employed writer and published poet as well as being an English tutor with an Upper Second Class Honours degree in English Language and Literature. I hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Children's Literature and Masters degree in Creative Writing.
I have published six poetry books to date - including two dyslexia friendly children's collections, and a full length children's storybook. I am keen to motivate children to develop their skills in both English language and literature. I firmly believe that good language skills are the key to success both throughout a child's school career and into the adult world of work beyond - and that an enjoyment of literature and books will encourage and enthuse children to develop in their reading and writing.
I have previously worked for ten years as a Teaching Assistant in Early Years settings, all primary school year groups and in secondary schools supporting students in their studies up to A Level standard. I have tutored both primary and secondary school students on a private basis and have received excellent progress reports from both schools and parents. I enjoy working with students who are keen to improve, I enjoy the challenge of encouraging and motivating reluctant learners and I additionally enjoy working with students with Special Educational Needs. Additionally, I run creative writing and creative poetry workshops for both children and adults in libraries across Staffordshire. I am fully DBS checked and hold public liability insurance.
