I went to primary and secondary school in the UK (Hertfordshire) and gained 9 GCSE's, plus 3 A'levels (Geography, Music, Theatre Studies).
I have a Bachelors degree in American Studies and Spanish from Portsmouth University as well as qualifications in journalism from the BBC.
I have ten years experience teaching English as a foreign language as well as singing and music. At first I mainly taught at primary schools and institutes, but soon after began teaching Business English through different institutes at companies.
I have taught using a wide range of methodologies and using a broad range of materials. The materials I have used include:
- New English File (beginner to advanced),
- American Headway (beginner to advanced),
- Wall Street English materials,
- Total English (intermediate)
- British Council materials
- Many other institute's materials
I have taught beginner levels, through to advanced. When it comes to one-to-one teaching, that is what I have done the most of, but I have also got extensive experience teaching groups. I have taken numerous amounts of students through exams, such as the First Certificate exam and the CAE.
I am half British, half Argentine, but I grew up in the UK, so my accent is British. I do emphasise the importance of learning American vocabulary and pronunciation, so therefore add in much of that information into my classes.
I like to challenge my students to use books, but to also look beyond books and get them to test their skills beyond a basic rule-learning session and make sure they can diversify their way of speaking. I work a lot on people's voices, and their developmental skills in speaking, as I believe it is crucial to be able to communicate well.
I have been teaching elementary piano for the past eight years to both children and adults.
I have also been teaching elementary singing to adults and children for the past four years.
I have taught basic Spanish for the past 8 years to children and adults.
