I am a qualified English teacher with a First Class Degree and 6 years of teaching experience. My goal is to help all learners engage with English, in all its forms, so they can apply a range of skills confidently. I am passionate about my subject and will use this to help your child enjoy and succeed in English.
I have experience teaching Key Stage 3 and 4 for both English Language and Literature and I have taught AS English Language to Key Stage 5. The results that I have helped students obtain over the years have always been excellent. Therefore, I would like to use my experience to aid students who desire or need additional support outside the classroom.
In addition to teaching, I have tutored students face to face before and I found it extremely rewarding to watch the progress made by working on a one to one basis. Furthermore, I worked for AQA as an examiner this summer. This role gave me a wealth of knowledge about how to help children understand mark schemes and exam expectations. Given that the National Curriculum and examination system has changed so dramatically to be more rigorous and demanding recently, I appreciate how daunting this can be to both students and parents. I assure you that I have a deep understanding of new specifications and I can guide learners in how to use the necessary skills securely.
I have worked with a range of children with special educational needs such as dyslexia, ADHD and autism and assisted them in overcoming barriers to learning. Many students I have taught or tutored have had low self esteem or a sheer lack of interest in the subject matter. I have a range of strategies to encourage all children to move forwards.
Many children have difficulties with tricky areas such as grammar and analysis of texts. These are my specialty and I have plenty of resources to help your child grasp these concepts. Equally, I can help build foundations for students at Key Stage 3 who are struggling with basics or who want to prepare for their GCSEs in advance.
Very helpful lesson before my exams, thank youdavis
