With nearly 4 years of experience of working in higher education, as an Academic Mentor and more recently as a specialist SpLD tutor, I have an in depth knowledge of academia and supporting students. In my role as an academic mentor, I have supported students with Specific Learning Difficulties, such as Dyslexia, and a range of disabilities, to structure and manage their studies. As a Specialist SpLD Tutor, I have the necessary skills and understanding to support students with Dyslexia.
I have an MA awarded from the University of Sheffield Law School and hold the Certificate to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector. I also hold a qualifying Law degree. Every student is different; I have a passion for my subject, and I am committed to ensuring students reach their full potential. I have also worked as a HND assessor in Legal Studies for an online college since 2013, and more recently as a tutor for A Level Law, and for Level 3 Diplomas in Sociology, Law, Criminology, Mental Health and Social Care, and Support Teaching.
I live in Sheffield, and in my spare time I volunteer teaching English as a second language, and enjoy swimming, reading and yoga. I have also been involved in a number of mentoring, teaching and social projects within the local community on a voluntary basis, including a mentoring project to encourage young people to achieve their educational goals, a mentoring project to encourage lifelong learning for older people, and as an advice worker, advising on matters of Consumer Law, Housing Law, Employment and Welfare Law.
