Hi all, I am a full lecturer in music and my passion is teaching music theory. I have over 15 years teaching experience and have a tried and test formula of teaching which will enable you to understand all levels of theory. I am in the process of writing a book on music theory and have a lot of resources which could help you along the way.
My daily role involves the co-ordination of the pop music course for which some of the duties include timetabling of staff, collation of unit grades, monitoring of student welfare, discipline and attainment and lecturing of units such as music theory, arrangement, composition, aural perception, performance studies and the sound the music industry. Over the past 3 years, during non-teaching hours, I have voluntarily run open theory classes for those students wishing to improve their skills/exam success in this area of music. We are currently in the process of organising evening classes for external/internal music theory students wishing to prepare for ABRSM examinations at all grades.
I have also been involved with the teaching, delivery, tracking, assessing, internally verifying and marking of Key Skills modules for Communications and IT for all levels.
During the Summer 2002, I was external examiner and moderator for Edexcel Examinations Board for Papers 42 and 52, Music Recital and Performing During the Course and was awarded a Grade B for my personal marking performance.
Private Teaching for Practical Saxophone and Music Theory
Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced students. This included the private teaching of both practical saxophone and music theory to a range of students of all abilities.
My performance experience has been relatively extensive from locals gigs in and around Wales and a string of prestigious showcasing venues including The Greyground in Fulham, Universities around England with £10,000 of hours spent in Advision Studios, Great Portland St., London recording tracks for a second album. All of this led to performing on the main stage at Notting Hill Festival/Carnival, several times at Covent Garden’s ‘Rock Garden’ and the London Hippodrome club and securing a few dates supporting the Average White Band. From this we managed to get signed up for a 5 year management/publishing deal with Invasion Group Records.
