I love maths and physics because they are so key in helping us understand how the world works. I have recently graduated from Durham university, having studied Maths and Physics. Before university, I studied Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry and French. Hence I am keen to teach Mathematics and Physics A-Level or below, and Chemistry and French GCSE.
I genuinely enjoy passing on the knowledge I have gained to others - whether that be in the classroom or as a sailing instructor. I have taught in tutorials at university, various family members of friends and as a sailing instructor. I am a great listener and am sure to prepare each session diligently so that we can make the most of each tutorial.
Having initially discussed the pupil's long term goal, I would come up with a plan of topics to cover during each session. I think the time in a tutorial is best spent increasing the pupil's understanding of a topic, rather than doing lots of practice questions. Hence, I would encourage the pupil to do questions outside of the tutorial, so that we could discuss them together. Clearly, if the pupil is unsure about a particular question or topic it would be worth doing some questions together.
