About the lesson

Hi, my name is Brina and I'm an experienced, friendly and patient tutor.

I graduated from university back in 2008 and have recently completed my TEFL qualification (150hrs).

I currently work in schools teaching the story of Anne Frank and the Holocaust, and running workshops relating to that topic on issues such as stereotyping, prejudice and the role of the bystander. I am passionate about teaching that area of history and helping others to understand the complexities of what went on during that time and how such tragedies can happen. I have experience of teaching this subject to those in Yrs 4 right through to college age.

I am also Jewish and I regularly go into schools to talk about my faith/religion. I love helping children and adults understand more about the Jewish way of life and the similarities that exist between all world religions. Within my teaching of Judaism, I have also taught basic Hebrew (Biblical) to children and adults, and prepared students for Bar and Bat Mitzvahs.

I over the past year I have co-led ESL classes locally and helped teach English to refugees and asylum seekers so I hope to develop this area of my tutoring now that I have my TEFL certificate.

I pride myself on being able to make all of my tutoring subjects accessible and engaging, and of course fun wherever possible. I have experience teaching mainstream and SEN pupils across a wide range of ages and backgrounds so I am able to adapt my teaching accordingly.

Away from work I love learning languages, reading and listening to music, as well as playing sport whenever I get the chance.
