I am a hardworking individual who is not afraid of having to put the extra effort in to get results. I have proved this many times throughout my education, extracurricular activities, and interests. Currently at university studying for a Master in Arts by Research degree, I was previously awarded the Sydney Lee Prize for History at the University of Central Lancashire for my work during my BA.

I am currently a MARes Student within the School of History at the University of Leeds. The working title of my thesis is War memory of WW2 in Changi, Singapore: Australian, British and Singaporean perspectives and I am due to submit my thesis on the 31st January 2018. I am currently acting as a Dissertation Mentor within the School of History, helping to guide final year undergraduates through their dissertations and I have taught Mock Tutorials to first year undergraduates to introduce them to the university. I am also taking part in this year’s Postgraduate Conference at Leeds as a finalist within the Three Minute Thesis Competition.

For my undergraduate degree, I was a Modern World History (BA (Hons)) student at the University of Central Lancashire. As part of this I undertook modules in Chinese, Japanese and British Sign Language. These languages enhanced my communication skills and give me the ability to interact with a wide range of people from different backgrounds and cultures. My dissertation was entitled Syonan Civilian Internees: Japanese Cultural Norms and Civilian Internees in Japanese Occupied Singapore and I was awarded the Sydney Lee Prize for History 2016 for having the best academic profile within my cohort.
