Lessons can focus on what you want to learn or are interested in, or if you’re already on a course and there’s something you need particular help with.
I’ve been a Textiles teacher working in secondary schools for 10 years.
I received a first class honours degree in Fashion from Kingston University in 2006 , graduating joint-first in my class . Then completed a PGCE (secondary) in Design and Technology at Goldsmiths University in 2010.
After graduation, I worked as an illustrator for a global tween brand and freelance as a knitwear designer, so I can support with design ideas development and drawing.
I have six consecutive years experience teaching Edexcel GCSE and A-Level Art and design : Textile design, where students produce mixed- media artworks , embroidered photographs , textile installations and garments.
Both GCSE and A Level involve a range of skills include photography, observational drawing and mark-making ;fashion illustration, CAD using Photoshop, hand and machine knitting, garment construction, free machine and hand embroider and felt-making.
Along with these practical aspects, I provide literacy support to analyse the work of artists and designers and help students to understand the meaning behind their own work and the difficulties they experience.
Experienced with working with students with a range of SEN needs including ASD, ADHD and SEMH.
I am experienced , patient and encouraging. Former students of mine have been accepted to study on fashion courses at London College of Fashion, Kingston University and Nottingham Trent.
Also teach the AQA GCSE in Food Preparation, focusing on cake-making methods, breads , pastry, sauces and theory required for NEA projects.
